Trauma Counselling
-
Experiences from the past can continue to show up in our relationships, emotions, memories, and sense of self. Sometimes we dismiss what happened because it seems too small, too long ago, or difficult to explain.
My approach to trauma counselling begins with understanding your experience and how it connects with your life today. There is room to explore what happened without having to compare it with anyone else’s story.
-
My areas of focus include developmental trauma, including relational and attachment trauma, as well as physical, emotional, and sexual trauma.
I consider early experiences, attachment patterns, emotions, biology, and relationships as part of understanding the whole person. Together, we can explore how these experiences have shaped patterns that once helped you cope and how they may be affecting you now.
-
I use an attachment-based, emotion-focused, trauma-informed approach guided by psychodynamic psychotherapy and neurobiology. I do not believe therapy is one size fits all.
We begin by developing an understanding of your experiences and identifying goals together. My work draws on a range of therapeutic approaches, and the treatment plan is shaped around the person and their needs.
-
Trauma counselling can offer space to understand how the past fits into your story and what you want to be different in your life. My role is to meet you with compassion and without judgement as we work toward your goals.
You can read more about my approaches on the Therapy page, or book a free 15-minute consultation to discuss whether working together is a fit.
